About Cairns Engineering
A small welding and fabrication workshop in Glasgow run by me, Martin.
Who I am
I am a welder and fabricator with an HND in Computer Aided Draughting and Design, based in Glasgow. I run Cairns Engineering on my own. I work from a workshop and can also offer mobile work on certain jobs. You deal with me from first message to finished job. This keeps the work consistent and makes it easy to speak directly to the person who is doing the work.
What I do
I focus on metalwork that needs to be right first time. Typical jobs include custom steel brackets and mounting plates, heavy duty gusseted brackets for worktops and frames, fixing plates for handrails, posts and gates, workshop brackets, tool mounts and jigs, repairs on removable parts and equipment, and one off parts for joiners, builders, garages and gyms. I can also help with design. If you have an idea, a rough sketch or a problem that needs a metal solution, I can turn that into a simple drawing or model before cutting or welding anything.
How I work
I try to keep things simple. You send a photo or sketch with rough measurements. I give you a price range and a realistic timescale. If you want to go ahead, I make the part in the workshop. You collect it, or we agree delivery or fitting. Most small jobs are turned around in a few days. Bigger or more awkward work takes longer and I will tell you that up front.
Who I work with
Most of my regular customers are joiners who need brackets and plates for stairs, kitchens and frames, builders who need fixing plates and small structural details, garages and mechanics who need brackets, tabs and custom jigs, gyms and PT studios who need bag brackets and mounting hardware, and local residents who need small welding or metalwork jobs handled properly. If you are not sure if your job is a good fit, send a quick message with a photo and I will tell you straight.
